Facial Reflexology
Facial Reflexology works by using gentle facial massage techniques for precise stimulation of reflex points, nerve points and zones on the face and scalp. As with foot or hand reflexology, there are points on the face that represent areas and systems within the body.
The aim is to help reduce the symptoms and effects of many common ailments but its first benefit is to provide total relaxation thus encouraging the body and mind to start to heal. The proximity of the face to the brain is key to the effectiveness of this therapy. Manipulating facial reflex points helps connect to the body’s neuro-pathways to rebalance and revitalise the body and mind.
Facial Reflexology is not a beauty treatment, however, it does by coincidence appear to have a rejuvenating and uplifting effect on the face; it is considered as a natural alternative to botox as it relaxes the facial muscles. It also stimulates the blood flow and encourages good lymphatic drainage, therefore helping to give you a naturally glowing complexion and quite literally ‘lifting’ the face to make your face feel and look smoother and more toned. Treatments also stimulate collagen and elastin from the inside, which gives the affect of tighter, plumper skin.
Facial reflexology is a safe and gentle holistic treatment and is suitable for all ages and physical conditions.
The Bergman Method
I have been trained by Ziggie Bergman, founder of ‘The Bergman Method’ Facial Reflexology which she developed over twenty years and based her methods on William Fitzgerald’s theory of “Zone Therapy” which uses Native American techniques along with Asian body mapping.
What To Expect
You will lie back in a reclining chair and your hair will be secured back from your face with a hair band and your face will be wiped free of makeup (mascara can be left on). A few drops of facial oil will be smoothed over your face. The treatment will start with some relaxing massage followed by a sequence of working the whole body through a series of reflex points on the face. Deep tissue massage is combined with reflex manipulation to relieve tension, improve well-being and promote deep relaxation.
